Summary of School Performance 2021 / 2021

During the academic year 2021 / 2022, statutory assessments were re-introduced to the primary curriculum.

The performance of Chelford CE Primary School pupils is outlined below:

Reception pupils

Reception pupils are assessed against the 17 statements identified in the Early Years Goals (ELGs). A Good Level of Development (GLD) is achieved where a child meets the expected level in the 12 prime ELGs: listening, attention and understanding; speaking; self-regulation, managing self, building relationships, gross motor skills; fine motor skills; comprehension; work reading; write-in; number and numerical patterns.

Year 1 pupils

Pupils’ phonological knowledge and awareness was assessed via the re-introduction of the Phonics Screening Check at the end of Year 1.

Where Year 2 pupils had not met the threshold in the autumn of 2021, they too were re-assessed.

Year 2 pupils

Year 2 pupils were assessed in reading, writing and mathematics as part of the statutory end of Key Stage 1 assessments. This process is teacher assessed against a criteria with evidence from formal KS1 SATs being considered as part of the evidence base for judgements.

In 2022, Chelford was selected at random for moderation of its KS1 data. All judgements were agreed by external moderators:

Year 4 pupils

In 2022, a Multiplication Check (MC) was introduced to all pupils in Year 4. There is no ‘pass’ mark or threshold for pupils to meet. As such, quantitive data for the MC is not produced.

Year 6 pupils

End of Key Stage 2 standardised assessments were re-introduced in May 2022. Pupils completed a range of assessments comprising:

  • Grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS): grammar and punctuation paper (paper 1) and spelling paper (paper 2)
  • Reading: 1 paper
  • Mathematics: Arithmetic (paper 1) and 2 Reasoning papers (papers 2 and 3)
  • Writing was teacher assessed against the published end of KS2 assessment criteria.
