World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day, pupils arrived to School dressed as a character from a book. In addition to an army of Hermiones and Harrys from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, notable characters on display included the Cat in the Hat, Tinkerbell, Mary Poppins and Dorothy (from the Wizard of Oz). We were also delighted to finally discover the whereabouts of Wally!
As well as dressing up to mark the occasion, pupils were also asked to bring to School a favourite book which they shared with a friend from a different class. Many of our older children enjoyed revisiting some of their earlier favourites when reading to our younger pupils and all of the children welcomed the opportunity to discuss their favourite books, characters and authors.
The day generated a fabulous enthusiasm amongst our pupils and it is clear that many of them enjoy reading for pleasure and sharing texts with adults, both in and beyond the school environment.
See if you can spot some of our favourite characters below...
