Collective Worship/Assemblies

Collective Worship/Assemblies

Each morning an assembly is held with stories, songs and prayers. A Harvest service is held at St John's Church, Chelford to which parents, grandparents and friends are invited. In addition the children are all involved in  Easter activities at the Church and a Christmas performance in school each year.

Praise Assembly

This special assembly takes place each week on a Friday morning.  All members of staff, both teaching and support staff, are invited to nominate a child or children who deserve special praise.

This could be for making good progress or showing consistent effort in their work, for their participation in sporting activities, individually or as part of a team, or for demonstrating good behaviour – being polite, well mannered and setting a good example for others to follow.

Every effort is made by the school to involve all children, regardless of their culture or religion, unless withdrawn by their parents in accordance with the law.

At Chelford CE Primary School we aim to:

‘Promote the principle of equal opportunity and respect for others in all aspects of school life, for example, through Assembly themes, Circle time, School rules and displays around the school.’

St John the Evangelist Church, Chelford

As a church school we have strong links with St John the Evangelist Church, Chelford. We visit the church for special services at Harvest and Easter and the vicar visits us regularly to lead our collective worship. The church holds a service in the school on the first Sunday of each month at 11.00am when people come together from the community to worship God together in a simple service lasting about 40 minutes, followed by refreshments.
